According to InterContinental Hotels Group, the new hotel is opposite the Charlottenburg campus of the Berlin University of Arts and takes the inspiration for its design from the burgeoning arts community in the city.

Its central location means it is just minutes from some of Berlin’s most famous attractions including the city’s most famous shopping street, Boulevard Kurfuerstendamm, Berlin Zoo and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.

The 81 room hotel is owned by Azure Properties and was designed by the renowned Düsseldorf architects, Klein Associates. The interior design is characterised by light coloured stone and wood, whitewashed walls and individual splashes of colour throughout the rooms, which have the feel of an artist’s studio.

Guests will be able to enjoy a breakfast of fresh, regional produce and choose to eat in Wohlfahrt’s Restaurant, located on the ground floor of the building.

All Hotel Indigo properties have a boutique feel and are generally smaller establishments and feature modern design and bold colours that reflect the local area.

Hotel IndigoBerlin Centre Hardenbergstrasse is the first of two Hotel Indigo properties set to open in Berlin in 2012. The second hotel will open on Alexanderplatz in May 2012.

The Hotel Indigo brand was launched in the United States in 2004 making it IHG’s youngest brand. It combines the standards and service of a branded hotel with the individual atmosphere of a boutique hotel.

There are 38 Hotel Indigo hotels around the world and 62 in the development pipeline, which will open in the next two to three years.
